Taiwanese Telecom Operators to Focus on Value-Line Smartphones

Value-line Smartphones are projected to become the mainstream products in the Taiwanese telecom market, according to an August 22, 2011 report by the Economic Daily News of Taiwan. Taiwanese telecom operator Taiwan Mobile released a self-branded value-line Smartphone Fantastic T3, contract manufactured by ZTE, on August 22, 2011; while another operator Far Eastone announced partnership with Huawei at the same time and unveiled a entry-level Smartphone IDEO X1. Taiwanese major telecom operator Chunghwa Telecom also said that the company is planning to unveil several value-line Smartphones with price tags of approximately NT$5,000 (US$172.4; US$1=NT$29.0) in the second quarter of 2011.
